David’s Rentals...
Has anyone used David’s recently?
We have rented points twice for 1 night stays only (privately), but would be looking at something longer ie 10-11 nights next year so I guess would need to go through the likes of David’s. Is full balance required at time of confirmation so likely 11 months out? What happens if travel is stopped again? Do you get ‘free’ resort parking even if renting DVC points? I have priced up (I think correctly) and it seems as though renting DVC points at Poly is less than 50% of the price direct via WDW. Am I missing something? Also a studio with kitchenette would be great for us with a 9 month old. Any advice appreciated.

Thinking the same.
I'm going to try their live chat later today as have a gap to fill in September this year and Disney's cheapest resort is CBR for £1k for four days.

As to original questions:
1. You wouldn’t necessarily have to go through David’s, private renters may also rent this number of points. 2. Not sure if full balance required with David’s but most private renters will require it. 3. Regarding travel stopping, I think David’s have some sort of credit note system but you need to check. Most private renters are final, but if the points are this years (or next years for a trip then), they will probably agree to bank them if they have enough notice - read about banking deadlines and use years so you can discuss this with your renter. 4. Yes anyone stopping on points gets free resort parking and theme park parking. 5. Not sure about 50% saving as I haven’t priced up cash stay at Poly but doesn’t surprise me. A private renter will be cheaper. Expect rental costs to be increasing a bit soon due to demand. DVC is hot now, to buy a contract has gone up 10% the last month or so.

We've booked with David's before and for next year. You have to pay in full once the booking is made.
Officially there are no refunds but last year they did offer credit. Just make sure your insurance cover is good. Price wise it is great cheaper and you get a kitchenette. |

We had booked with them for last year, we had the option of a partial refund if they could re-rent the points or a 100 % credit, we took the credit and have 3 years to use it.

Just to say, as someone who sometime rents their points out, I wouldn’t consider using David’s since their recent policy change, which puts the entire risk on the owner.
I think we’ll see a surge in private renting from this as know I’m not alone.

I just watched a YouTube video on this subject 👍🏻
Not sure if Id do it in COVID times due to the complete lack of flexibility and cancellation policy but definitely in future- especially as we are essentially 4 adults travelling now and they seem to offer bigger accommodation

Based on what? Each private renter will have their own terms so it’s impossible to do a general comparison against an agency’s terms.
