We stayed 14 nights at Cabana Bay in 2017, we hired a car and drove to Disney too. We loved it, it worked out better value than staying at Disney and the drive wasn’t too bad.
That being said we are doing a split stay this year though hopefully.

We are meant to be going to Universal for three weeks in August. We have two weeks at Cabana and one week at Pacific in Club level. We are going to SeaWorld, Busch, Aquatica, Clearwater and KSC as well as Universal.

Last time we had a split stay, two weeks POFQ and a week HRH. Love Universal

We stayed for two weeks at hard rock a few years ago. We had previously done a few nights and fancied something different. It was great, we all loved it. We enjoy mooching around the parks, esp Harry Potter. Often we would spend the afternoon by the pool and go back out later. We didn’t visit disney that trip, but went to bush gardens etc. We didn’t eat on site, jumped in the at and went to local places - often my fav - Taco Bell!

10 nights at Aventura in December.
Worked well and able to enjoy Universal and City Walk to the full at a relaxed pace and great to just hop on boat/bus at the end of the evening.
Uber in to International Drive several times.
We had a car and I did resent paying $22 a night to park which added $200 to the stay (same everywhere I know but I still think it’s a ripoff)
We were there for a more relaxed time nd not needing to do all the Orlando parks so it worked well for us.
