there is absolutely no answer to your piece of string question
The (= MY) rule is this : - book ASAP (1yr out if need be) with a company that offers free cancellation, to lock a price in (I use Andy at DFCH as he goes above and beyond my expectations as far as service goes) - work your way down by amending, or rebooking/cancelling when the price goes down there is no other way or secret, or special time of year |

Book with someone like Discount Florida Car Hire. Then if the prices drop if you email Andy he’ll cancel and rebook. Price won’t go up and I’ve not seen him beaten on price so you can’t really lose

In the past I have always found a good price when I've booked about 10 or 11 months out. This time I booked with DFCH as above poster mentioned as the prices were more expensive than normal, I have since seen the price drop by over £100 and that includes going from an intermediate to a standard SUV. Each time Andy has happily amended my booking.

Book early book often
I like to book about 12 months out and don't limit myself to one company. I am driven by the price so check every day and chop and change. Also I book with a 3rd party supplier that offers free amendments and free cancellations. I show loyalty to no company Think outside the box. For example Hertz and also Costco etc

Are there any companies to avoid at all?
I am comparing prices on Auto Europe but Alamo, who I usually use, either isn’t there or massively expensive compared to others. Not used any other companies so a little unsure if they offer same (free additional driver, straight to garage, online check in etc?) |
