Oh my goodness! I've always wanted to stay at the Hotel Del Coronado. Such a rich history. (And, I am a huge Marilyn Monroe fan!) Isn't Balboa Park amazing? Did you get into the huge greenhouse on the grounds? They have such beautiful architecture there. Glad you visited it.

How fun to have had dinner with a friend from the DIBB. The food looks out of this world!

I am living vicariously through you two!

What a lovely day, looks like you found many reasons to go back to San Diego. I had about 5 days there back in 1994 and loved it. We drove into the desert and went to La Jolla and Julian -beautiful! I loved the Old Town too and had the bast nachos and margritas there

Ah, so glad you got at least a short visit to my hometown! You WILL have to come again for a longer stay. There is so much to see there. The sun does shine a lot, really! I'm enjoying the trip reports - like a mini-vacation at my computer . Don and I went to several dances at the Del when we were in high school - Don joked that he helped Thomas Edison wire the place. The history there is all around! We need to get you to Timberline Lodge on Mt Hood in Oregon for more historical building stuff and incredible views!

May have to rethink our schedule this Summer as we hadn't planned on visiting San Diego but we may have to try and find a way to fit this in! It looks wonderful!

San Diego is lovely, we are finishing off our holiday there and Aims as been helping me too, she is a star.

The boathouse looks fantastic, the food looks amazing. Shame about the weather more Sheffield than San Diego!

And can we say what great company you and Larry were. A memorable evening. Great food too. And, yes, we must meet up again when you hit these shores.

Aww thanks, Alyson. So glad to know I have been of some help. I'm here if you need to ask any other questions as time goes along too.

Geoff, really wishing that we could have switched last Saturday for today- the weather right now in San Diego is picture perfect. Blue skies everywhere and 78 degrees- the locals are out in their shorts and flip flops (me included!). What a difference a week makes. You'll have to try visiting CA in the spring next time!

Right now Amy, in London, it's a lovely 36F with dull grey skies. Thank heaven we have a log burning stove! We did get some real good days weather-wise on our way up Route 1. The day at Hearst Castle was particularly pleasant and we got sun tanned whilst at
Piedras Blancas Elephant Seal Rookery near San Simeon. SF was a bit mixed but like we said to you - above 50 and it's summer for us!

And, yes, Alyson, San Diego is lovely and we shall be retruning for a longer stay in the future.

I agree Geoff about 50 degrees being good for us! It was 55 when I was driving home from work today and I opened the car window! ha! My family in Arizona would be frozen solid. Us northwesterners and those in London think that's perfect! (Well, 65 is perfect, but, I will take sunny and 55!)
