Global Entry
Has anyone applied for this and been successful? Can you apply if you have a new passport (not travelled on it yet but no previous issues)
Thanks

My parents applied and got accepted. They haven't used it yet but did get TSA Pre on the internal flights they took after approval.

Yes you can. We almost applied for it this year but only one trip planned next year and whilst I know it is valid for 5 years I still want to try and time it for when I start travelling 2 / 3 times a year again.
That said... no doubt when I am stuck in the long lines at MCO in September I'll be wishing I applied for it so at least the next trip it will be easier |

You will need to travel a lot to make it worth while.. £42 initially, at the UK end, and then another $100 for a 5 year membership. Plus you need to have an interview...
You don't need to have travelled on that passport before.. |

Indeed and a topic of debate in this household It is such a shame you can't attend a UK based interview so you get value out of it straight away!
The day we arrive and depart MCO the global entry interview office is closed otherwise it may have been even more tempting. |

I have GE
There is a thread where i posted a lot of info on, do a search and have a look. I managed to get it as part of the trial in 2012/13 and I have to say it was a faf to apply but has def been worth it. you get to use the GE kiosk skip the customs line and get TSA pre- but that only works on USA airlines. The application is detailed, you need work history address and every country you have visited in last 6 years (maybe 7) You also need a squeeky clean record, both with the law and with UK and USA customs. If you were caught with an apple in the past by CBP, chances are they marked your record and you will get rejected etc. Any conviction even spent ones will prevent you too. |

I applied for it 3 weeks ago and I am still waiting for my decision so just be prepared for that!

I have GE and makes entry into the US a breeze, 20 mins from aircraft and taxi via Miami which is amazing.
The application was pretty straightforward - had my physical interview in Chicago between flights and approved immediately - TSAPre is a bonus as is the customs form no longer bring required. I travel to the US monthly so very much worth the cost, once or twice a year maybe not - I have both my UK passports linked to it as well. |
