Moving from a Child to Adult Passport
I need to renew my daughters passport and this time it will be an adult passport she will get. So is renewing from a child passport to her first adult passport. What I was unsure about is if she needs to get her photographs countersigned? I've read the instructions and the Government's web site but they seem to contradict each other. I'm sure other dibbers have had this issue so wondered if you can advise? Thank you.

The paperwork inside says you need to get them signed if you've changed a lot since the last photos. We got dd's done just in case

I sent my daughters's application off today.
I agree the instructions were very unclear, but like Caz says, it says get them signed if changed from photo. My daughter hadn't changed and you could see from the photos it was her, so we didn't get them signed. I will be probably be kicking myself now if it gets returned! |

I got my son's done I did get it countersigned no idea if it was really needed although he has changed quite a bit. If in doubt I would just do it save any problems or ask at the post office where they do the checking service.

Thank you. I think I will get them signed just to be on the safe side.

I can't remember having to countersign mine when I moved from child to adult, it was a pretty much straightforward process sending off forms and the old passport. The passport was about 2 years out of date too.

Just renewed DD and DS from child to adult, got them countersigned and they were back within a week.
Also renewed DH just to update his photo! he used to have a moustache and shaved it off a couple of years ago, but the older he gets the more he gets stopped for not looking like his passport photo!

Getting Excited

I had to get my photo's signed, as it stated on the paperwork that all photo's must be signed for. I had just turned 19 so I don't know whether being an adult or not has anything to do with photo signing. Also my OH had to get his signed at 21, I'd get them signed if you can, better to be safe :o

I renewed ds 19 passport a few weeks ago, I didn't get it counter signed. I did have to read it a couple of times to be clear but the counter signature isn't needed if they are still recognisable from their last photo (he was, he was 13 on the last one). All ok and got it back a week later. So no it isn't needed unless his appearance has changed a lot.
