Student laptop also for gaming ?

Any recommendations ?

Entry level gaming.

It has to come from laptops direct as I have a credit note.

Preferably under £600

anything that price will have limitations for gaming but you will need a decent amount of RAM at least 8Gb and a graphics card

laptopsdirect/acer...06/version.asp
would probably be OK at that price point although I havent got one so im only going by the spec

When you say limitations ? Could you explain a little bit about what you mean ?

Depending on what games he wanted to play it world restrict how fast the game is other words games like Forza Horizon 4. Starting off with one of the best genres to demonstrate graphical realism is Forza Horizon 4. ...
Grand Theft Auto V. ...
Red Dead Redemption 2. ...
Assassin's Creed: Odyssey. ...
Far Cry 5.

You need a high end if you get a lower end pc with not run the games

basically some of the more advanced games require a lot of expensive hardware to run - or at least run quickly - thats why some people spend £2k on gaming laptops

If there is a specific game he wants to play then ask LD if it will run on that machine

Just dont expect miracles for £600

"entry level gaming" is a bit of an anomaly... it all depends on what you class as "entry level"

running MAME, or playing farmville is entry level.

get a list of what games they are likely to play on it and look up the specs. a strategy game or chess wont need any resources, but its its for playing fortnite or some other 3d FPS type thing, the requirements will be much higher.

when i say much higher, its not really... its just that some graphics cards built into laptops just arent suitable for *anything* 3d. as long as you have at least 8gb ram (ideally 16gb) and a 500gb SSD (again, bigger is preferred) you can run most things

sorry i couldnt be more help, but it really is a minefield, and depends what your definition of "entry level" is completely...
