Diabetics - Virgin Atlantic
Hi All,
i'm trying to plan around my diabetes ( type 1 ) and not sure whether to book a diabetic meal with VA, has anyone requested or had one as im intrigued to know what I would actually get or if its worth just having a normal meal. also any tips would be greatly appreciated x x

We usually have two ordinary meals and swap foods amongst ourselves, the Diabetic meal was dire.

Two things, special airline meals are horrible with every airline.
They may not be serving meals if the virus is still going, all classes seem to get a sandwich in a container as main meal. May be worth you looking to get some good food before you board

thanks guys! I will defo have a normal meal if they are serving meals, I normally always bring a sandwich with me so I will do this anyway!
I did think the meal would be horrific tbh but its good to hear other peoples experiences!

The last time I read anything on the diabetes forums they didn’t recommend ordering special meals just to be aware of the carbs, test and correct if need be. I’ve never had any issues and I’m type 1 also.

Portions are fairly small, not all food services come with a bread roll which are on the small side. On average a dish with rice will have @ 3-4 tablespoons(ish) and roughly the same of potatoes. You get 2 crackers (think the size of a ritz biscuit maybe a bit bigger) and a small dessert probably @ the size of a petit filou pot or so.
