We built a summer house last year but couldn’t use it through the winter because we couldn’t get a plumber to install the fire due to lockdowns. Finally got it fitted last week, and a huge amount of heat comes out of it so hoping this will mean year-round usage now. We ran mains gas from the house so we could have a gas fire.

We still have a bar to be fitted at the opposite end from the sofas (waiting for joiner….) and pictures etc. to put up and it won’t look so bare then.

Tuins prices have really shot up. We chose one which was £1900 but we weren’t ready to order. The exact same one is now £3714 !

We are g oink to wait and see if prices come down over the winter or look elsewhere. I will take a look at Ultimate Sheds too.

Just resurrecting this thread!

Did you all pay for installation?

Also was it easy to eg get power and WiFi?

Mine wasn't a screw together summerhouse but one I built myself.

I know an excellent electrician who ran the power down from the house using SWA and I definitely don't recommend anyone who isn't a qualified electrician and Part P registered to attempt to run power down to their summerhouse.

With regards the wifi, you can you use a TP link device that runs the wifi signal though the mains cable (I have one in my loft conversion and it works reall well). I ran CAT cable down to my summerhouse from the router in the house and put a second wifi router in the summerhouse (the second router has to be on a different channel to the house router).

Obviously the increase in demand has impacted but It’s the price of wood mainly which has caused the price rises, they are unlikely to come down any time soon however due to lack of supply😕

We wanted a fire like that but our insurance wouldn’t cover us unless we had it all fire proofed inside . Which company did you use ?

We bought the fire from Flames and a local gas certified plumber installed it. He seemed quite particular, refusing to fit it without an extra part that we had to send off for so it’s all above board. DH’s brother has a similar fire in his cabin and a different local plumber fitted his. Neither of us were asked about fire-proofing.
