I was in your shoes this time last year, only went to one shop but tried on so many dresses ! My DD thought she knew what she wanted but came out with one completely opposite. Got it from celebrity prom in Stafford, allow you to pay a bit at a time which is great as they aren't cheap, but well worth it in my opinion.

My daughter got hers in Orlando at the Dillard's outlet... it was about $40. The shoes were from there too
it's the pink one

My daughter has her prom in July, we got her dress in Orlando $400 so I am hoping no one will have the same lol
The only problem we have is storing it, it’s long and wide so too long to fit in the wardrobe so it’s a nightmare.
She has gone for a long princess type dress, very pale pink/champagne colour
Her friend has got a dress from fairy tale endings in Wigan, they have an online store too if you want to look, it’s stunning, navy with silver sparkles.

We went to house of Fraser loved dress in coast, quiz in Debenhams but ultimately bought from lipsy.

We tried loads on but she had her heart set on something a bit gothic with lace neckline

DD had her prom 2 years ago. She knew that she wanted a long dress but nothing too “princessy”, we looked everywhere from TK Maxx to the local bridal shop without success. She eventually found a Ralph Lauren dress in House of Frazer which she knew was the one as soon as she tried it on. I think we paid about £200. However, the dress was just the beginning! I dread to think what the total cost was with limo, shoes, bag, jewellery, hair, spray tan, make up, nails etc. Good Luck!

Then, just to complicate things even further, she had to have a change of outfit for the “after prom party”.

Well, on the 4th attempt, DD finally chose a dress.

Completely not what I was expecting. It was actually a dress that the sales assistant picked out. So it just goes to show, it helps to be open and try on different things.

Ended up paying way more than I wanted to really, but she loves it.

Thanks for all the help, advice and lovely pictures.

Now for the accessories lol...

My DD’s prom is in June. We’ve been looking but can’t find anything that she loves as yet. She has found a couple on a website called White Fox but they are Australian and I’ve said no as postage/returns postage is expensive. I’d prefer to get one from a shop so she can try on or if we have to go online a UK company.

I have just started my own business selling prom dresses and occasion wear (as well as Bridal Gowns). They are all overstock or samples so may have been tried on but never worn... lots with tags still attached.

I wanted to give girls the opportunity to buy beautiful dresses at a great price so everyone can be a princess for the night.

We are offering a free dress loan at the food bank (just sorting locally)for anyone in hardship, who cant afford a prom dress.

Completely out of my comfort zone, as I have been a company director for a Training Company and a Registered Nurse n the past... this evolved from a hobby.

DD has tried a fair few on today, but there hasn’t been any that she really liked once on. Even though she has an idea in her head what she likes/ wants, she has been open to trying different colours / styles to see what suits, so that’s positive.

However, being petite (she’s around 5’2”) she’s struggling to find anything that fits well and she’s determined she wants a long dress.

Going to try again at the weekend... keeping fingers crossed. This may not be as easy as I thought It would be lol... watch this space.
I’m 5ft 2 and get quiz dresses they are easy enough to take up!
