I have to say I've just priced up 3 nights for us in April and it's coming in at £759 for 2a2c . I presume that's self catering as I had fainted so didn't read the rest. Just cannot justify those prices for a short break.

We have mostly done DLP at Christmas time but with our LG only being 1 this year we decided to try Centre Parcs instead. Absolutely brilliant, I have already booked for next year. Such nice relaxed family time, xx

The costs are ridiculous in school holidays. We go with another family and split the cost of a lodge.

We've been to Sherwood and Whinfell. We went to Sherwood as a family of adults and loved the space, then went with my OH's family so enjoyed the closeness of everything for the kids. We also love being able to go off and do our own thing as a couple and loved having the badminton courts to ourselves when we were there in January time (wasn't as quiet in Feb half term though, unfortunately).

Ps I think the rapids and outside pool are loads better at Sherwood

I agree . I've booked a week on a boat on the Norfolk broads in summer hols for less than that .
It would be a £1000 for 2 families sharing

Are any of the outside pools useable for toddlers without having to go down Rapids.
Thanks

I love it, we are a 40 year old couple with no kids and its just so peaceful in the forest, perfect for a getaway. It can be as busy or quiet as you want! So many activities to do or do nothing but chill! We went to Woburn a couple of months ago and stayed in the hotel, it was beautiful and quite classy! We love the restaurants there, the Starbucks, having a drink in the evenings and playing pool! We love swimming and the spa, so relaxing. My husband thought Elveden was quite run down but Woburn was shiny and brand new! Can thoroughly recommend the owl encounter at Woburn, £10 per person for one hour with loads of different species of owls, great value.

I can fully understand the frustration with prices in school holidays though :-(

I must say it is the price that ultimately puts me off with two school age children and so many cottages elsewhere to stay near to things to do. I do like the idea of not needing the car though
