Excited about Disney

Booking for the summer holidays 2021
We are hoping to go back and stay onsite again in 2021 so long as we can get free dining, if not all our plans will most likely change. We have to go during the summer holidays as DW works at a school.
We are pretty flexible on dates during the summer but would like to make sure we get the best price possible on flights. Do people book their dates with Disney to cover a longer period than they intend to be there for and then shorten it once they lock in the flights or do you just pick some dates and then hope that you get a good price for flights on those dates? Also is any particular day of the week cheaper to fly on?

I don't have the luxury of that sort of flexibility as I have to fit my holiday in with work colleagues. So I just book 2 weeks off work and fly out on a Sunday, returning on a Thursday or Friday and those dates are set in stone.

We are the same as Donaldfan above. DH has to book two full weeks, so we fly out on a Sunday and return on the Monday as he can use an extra day for that so we can have two full weeks but not really flexible enough to fly midweek and get cheaper flights

We book 1 person in to disney for longer than we need. So say you know you would ideally travel 10-25 Aug, book 1 person for 8-27 Aug.
Then later when flights get released and you lock in flight dates call Disney, trim down the dates and add the other people to the booking. Doing it this way will often (you need to check the maths) mean you don't get charged an admin fee. The price of the room goes down but if you add say 3 people you are at the very least adding £1,200 of park tickets. So the total price should be going up and not down, so no amendment fee. Plus doing the above is better than booking ideal dates and trying to tweak them later as if you need 1 extra night they might not have availability. Edit: weekends are typically more expensive to fly on, but not always. Key is to be looking from day of release, keep checking amd then book as soon as you see a decent price. Happy planning!
