Using a credit card
hi, I wonder is it still the normal practice in restaurants for the servers to take your credit card away when you want to pay? We haven't been since 2016 and we were still using mainly travellers cheques! On the couple of occasions we used our card they mostly wanted to take it to the machine rather than bring the machine to the table! I don't really want to take a lot of cash but am used to not letting the card out of sight! is it any different now?

I say that I would like to pay by card and ask them to bring the machine to the table. If they say that they cant then say that the card is not leaving your sight. A solution will be found.

Thanks for your responses - I've done both in the past - let them take it and insist I go with it - to be fair I've never had any problems either way but I thought it might have started to change... EC.
