Will Boots The Chemist Close?
I saw on the News last week up to 200 shops may close. Not good.
However I wanted to buy some toiletries today and as usual checked all the shops such as Asda and also Superdug etc etc. Boots was more expensive for every item without exception, plus they always seem to be the same. All we buy there now is No7 products, well my Wife does not me! I have given up taking Prescriptions there as they always say it wont be ready for at least 4 hours! What, I want my stuff in 15 minutes. So do we have a perfect storm brewing where they have committed business suicide? I do feel for the staff as they seem to be hard working. Well apart from the Pharmacist

I only buy on the Christmas 3 for 2 at Boots now. It has been expensive for a while. When ds1 was a baby I bought all his nappies at Boots as I collected the points but by the time ds3 came along I started buying them with my supermarket shop.

Doesn’t surprise me. Boots is like WHSmiths, stuck in the past. Everything seems expensive and the shops don’t look very appealing. I like a Boots meal deal but that is about it. I buy all my toiletries from Home Bargains. Even with the 3 for 2 Christmas gifts I walk out because I can only ever find 2 items I want.

They have been the most expensive option for several years now. I think they should ditch the advantage card and actually be competitive on prices especially factoring in that all products sold there can be largely purchased from supermarkets too, usually much cheaper.
Shame as a strong retailer but I cannot for the life of me understand why they don’t try to be more competitive on price. 😳

Can’t remember the last time I went in boots.
Used to buy husbands aftershave there, but I can buy it elsewhere cheaper, toiletries are definitely cheaper in other shops,so it’s now a shop I never go into. These shops just don’t seem to adjust,to suit the changing requirements of the consumer. WH Smith,is a shop that surprises me,that it’s still trading, ours is always empty apart from the post office queue. Tracy x

I used to shop there quite a Bit, then they stopped my fave brand of face wipes, and my local one is tiny, now I only buy my deodorant when it’s on offer! I didn’t even find a 3 for 2 offer this year, it was all the same, I don’t need to buy 3 people a smelly set usually, and the makeup/hair options have all gone down hill!

In our tiny village we have 2 ours and another about 1/2 mile away so pretty sure 1 of them will close. Will be ashame another small village losing its shops.. |

They are part of Walgreens. Am sure the plan will always to have been close shops. They've been making Optical staff redundant.

The pharmacists work extremely hard , it’s absolutely frustrating having to wait around for prescriptions to be dispensed but they have to be double checked and there is always a queue ,nothing is ever straightforward and I have witnessed many an abusive customer when I have been picking my prescription up and the poor pharmacist’s don’t deserve it at all , they are just doing their job and there are simply not enough of them on duty to cope with the workload .
I sincerely hope they don’t shut down the pharmacy side of Boots or I will be stuffed 😩

We can get most of what they sell in our local supermarket superstore for cheaper plus that’s easier to get to, we’re going anyway and it’s free to park.
For things like perfume and aftershave much cheaper online. The large Boots we have in town is also far too hot to shop in! Everyone says the same! Forget going in in winter when you have a coat on and summer it’s roasting in there! Too hot to stay and wander even if you wanted to! I had my eye test in there last year and everyone looking at the glasses were literally dripping! Not a pleasant shopping environment. |
