Universal in late August/early September

Hi all

I am planning another trip. I was thinking about booking a couple of nights in Universal to make use of their passes, but I'm starting to question whether I would need to. If we planned to go in the last week of August or first week of September, would the queues be worth skipping?

Thanks for any help

We went 21/08-04/09 last year. Queues were fine! Get there early and everything's doable. Gringotts was 15/20 minutes at times and Kong which had just opened I think 40.

We were there end of August last year and queues were short, didn't wait long for anything even Harry Potter we only queued about 25 mins.

This sounds really promising - we're on a tighter budget, so want to try and avoid having to book if we can. However, we usually go early August and the queues were horrific - you would hardly get on anything.

We went 21/8 to 4/9 last year and yes ques were actually much less tgan expected! Even better in the second week with everything being ptactically a walk on or 10 minute wait but by the time we had walked through where you would que we straight on! Went one evening too about 18.00 and again pretty much walked on to things although some things had a massive que... 5 minutes 😂😂! Would definately go at this time of year again for ques quite humid though so in the day so early or evening better for the heat!

We were there last year for 4 nights from Aug 31st. First couple of days were great and probably didn't need the express pass but then when it got to the weekend, it was jam packed. Not sure if it was a bank holiday weekend. Kong was an hr wait in the express line!

So I should probably just avoid weekends - looking to do a couple of weeks again, with maybe 2-3 days out at Universal.

Thanks for all the help so far, it has been really useful .

I think Labor Day might be the first Monday in Sep so that might make the parks a bit busier over the weekends.

We've done mid Sep onwards before and it was super quiet! Think the longest we waited was 30 mins for Forbidden Journey which had only opened that summer. Just booked for early Sep so hoping for some low crowds again!

Yes I'd avoid weekends, we went mid week and as said barely queued at all.

DH and I are going for our first time , just for 1 day, at the beginning of November. We used the froggy website (the name of which escapes me-Undercover Tourist?) which says early November is slow and recommends Wednesday as the best day to go.
Apparently I cant post a link to their site but it is Undercover Tourist and go to Crowd calendar

Can I just add this is my first time on your forums and its so nice to read comments where no-one is ripping anyone's head off. I hate the nastiness on the Dis boards these day and rarely use them.
