what shops used to be on your high street?

thinking about another thread on high streets and how mine used to be so much nicer and I liked to visit what shops did you have on yours? We used to have :
Coop home and furniture store .
Woolworths
C&A
Marks and Spencers (decided they weren't making enough money)
Somerfield supermarket
I am sure there are many more I cant remember , sadly they have all been replaced it seems by betting shops, takeaways, phone shops is also a popular one.

Mac Fisheries
Hepworths before they became Next

When I first started work in 1962 (yes I did ) I had an account with Hepworths called Club 24 and bought bespoke suits for work from the High Ousegate branch in York

I then moved on to Lord John for even bigger lapels on my suit jackets.

You have an amazing memory, I had a club 24 account at Hepworths.

Also, I thought Mac Fisheries was a local firm in our South Coast Town...learnt something !

Just by chance the Mac Fisheries in York was opposite Hepworths. According to Google Streetview Hepworths is now a Fat Face and Mac Fisheries is Lambretta (do they sell Italian scooters? )

I thought I'd made it buying suits from Hepworths as a 16 year old as they were designed just for me by Hardy Amies. Oddly enough I never met him.

Somerfields got taken over by Co-op and then some of those stores went to become Morrisons.

Keymarkets was one of the supermarkets that became Somerfields if you want to go back further in that chain.
