Anyone applied for an ESTA recently?

Just done ours did them as a group not sure if that was the right thing to do.
Currently says pending authorisation, scared now 🥺

No it will be 2 years from approval unless you get a new passport in the meantime.

The consensus of Dibbers since they were made compulsory in Jan 2009 is to do them 6 months in advance just in case there's a problem and it gives you time to get a visa. Also do them before you commit serious non-recoverable £ to a holiday.

Having read 95% of ESTA posts on here since then I can count on one hand how many have had "problems" and the vast majority are due to carelessness such as answering YES to the obvious NO questions. But while there's a minimal risk I'd rather spend $14 each now and put them to bed

The only reason you apply as a group is to make one payment at the end. No such thing as a group ESTA. Each ESTA individual to each passport. If one passport expires during the life of an ESTA only that one ESTA requires renewing.

Don't worry about pending status. We've had live ones since Jan 2009 so maybe 6 or 7 each. Only in the last 18 months have I seen on here a handful approved instantly. I guess 95% are pending but usually come back within an hour.

Renewed ours today as a group (2 adults) and took about 20 mins to be approved

Like to always have valid estas in case we win the euro millions.

Re: social media. The form just asks for user names and no other questions. I have LinkedIn, twitter, youtube and instagram and DH has nothing and we got approved at the same time

New passport applied for 2 weeks ago today - new one arrived at 955. Global Entry changed by 10am, new ESTA applied for and approved by 1015 - no problems at all.

Not impressed with the quality of the new blue large passport it reminds me of little notebooks from Muji - apart from the security page that is.
