I am gutted you didn’t get to up the mountain, but a nice bonus that the price of the zoo was included in your tickets.

I know you have told me the story about your grandmother and the gazebo before but I love it, it’s such a nice story to share down the generations. It is much smaller than I imagined.
I was really disappointed not to go up the mountain,we'd all brought our walking boots and we'd bought a few sandwiches before getting the bus. I was a bit miserable really, some would say sulky.

It worked out well in the end though as DS loved wandering around the zoo, the bears were great, and I got to see the gazebo. I'm glad you enjoyed hearing about my grandma again. It's lovely to be reminded of her. She had a real wanderlust, my grandad not so much but he was happy to just be with her and would have followed her anywhere. She had tuberculosis as a young woman and refused to marry him until she was given the all clear as it seemed unlikely she would survive. In the end she lived until she was 87. She would have loved to read all these trip reports. There was a big family holiday to disneyland in the late 70s, but as my mum was pregnant we didn't do, I'd have only been 2 or 3 at the time. For her 80th birthday she organised another big family holiday to Paris, we went to DLP and had a brilliant time.

Thanks for allowing me to indulge and reminisce with you, not that you had much choice!
