Weird BT call, not sure if it's a scam

I had a strange call saying it was BT and our internet would be disconnected today. I was really unsure about whether to press 1 to connect to technical team but decided to. Got connected to someone who proceeded to say our internet connection was insecure and asked if I had give our Wi-Fi password to anyone. I said no I hadn't and then asked them to give me their number to call them back. They started to give me a number then it cut off

Thats a scam, and if you press 1, it will probably connect you to a line that will cost you £9 a minute. Ignore

Yes it’s a scam. I get these calls on a regular basis.

Awful scam, every day at between1:50 and 2:00pm without fail we get the same call

As others say it could be linked to a premium rate re-route call, but more likely they are just playing the odds that one in every 500 will be naive and give them what they want.

By pressing one youve already given them the info that someone at your house responds so you will see more calls in the future as they share Calling lists

Because we did have some connection problems a few weeks ago and had a cable redone I thought it may something to do with that at first. Now I've had time to process it a bit more I know it's defiantly a scam.

Very common scam ,l get calls about these at work daily, as they come from offshore without a call buster to screen calls it's hard to stop.
I've started answering the phone "Fraud team" which gets rid of most of them.
