Virgin Fly Drive - Car Hire Help!

Hey All

We have booked our fly drive with Virgin for a 3 week stay with the car hire being with Alamo. We already upgraded from the basic hatchback with basic insurance to an SUV but want to go to a Full size SUV and upgrade the insurance also but what's the best way around this. Been quoted an additional £1057 from Virgin to upgrade car and insurance which is half what we paid for a family of 3 for the full fly drive... They really have you in a hold and wondered if any one has any tips or insider info ect ect.

When we went last time in 2014 we managed to upgrade the car and insurance and they had a deal on so instead of it being more then ended up refunding us!

Sadly VH have you over a barrel and there is no way out if you want their package of car + insurance.
I would try the haggle routine but don't hold your breath.
What I would do is price up a car with Alamo. DIY, with Brits, or Andy or even VA etc.
Then see what comes out best and maybe just ditch the 'free' car.

Have you looked at just not taking their car and getting it independenly? Probably cheaper.

Yea someone else said to do that

I kinda think its prob going to be the best way, The price we paid with Virgin for everything was a bargain anyhow so I wouldn't be up nor down about doing that.
