Car Hire Upgrade Question
Hi.
I have got the Chrysler Town and Country booked for our holiday in July through BA/Avis and I've just rung up to see how much it would be to upgrade to the Chevrolet Suburban and BA want an extra £312 but if I try to change cars via my Avis Preferred account it is stating an extra £212. The question I am asking is if I waited till we arrived at the airport how much on average do you think it would be to upgrade? I'm nervous to upgrade direct via Avis as we have a fly drive with BA and don't want there to be a problem with the payments etc Thanks

Depends on who you speak to and how much commission the sales staff want to earn from you. If they realise you really want the vehicle, they'll charge a nice hefty price to inflate their wage packet.
To give you an idea, go to the Avis website and get a price for one day and that might give you a rough idea. |

I always haggle at the desk, I've never been charged more than £300 to go from the free economy car to a full size SUV, and I've also had a V8 camaro and a challenger.
