Heathrow T5 flight connections - daft laddie question
Hi
Our BA domestic flight from the frozen north (INV) lands at T5 and we connect onto a second BA flight to NYC, also from T5. Using flight connections do we have to go through security again or is it just a check of boarding passes to get us into T5 itself. Just ask as we only have 1hr 5 mins between flights. Thanks |

Yes I think there is another security check when going through flight connections.
The minimum connection time is 1 hour from T5 Domestic to T5 International.

No security checks when we flew BA Glasgow -JFK via Heathrow in October, just a case of following the signage. Spoke to a member of staff who just pointed us in the right direction!
We were a bit taken aback as in previous years we have flown into a different terminal and had to connect with the bus. Really simple when we went. |

Just keep your wits about you when coming back after your overnight flight. More than once, in our zombie like state, we have followed 'arrivals' instead of 'connections' and found ourselves landside and having to go back through security again.

No security check outbound - but there is inbound once you go through immigration.
Just be aware - your NYC flight is likely to leave from one of the remote T5 terminals (B or C gates) and you have to take the small train to get there - could take 10 - 15 minutes. Just follow the flight connections signs very carefully when you come off the INV flight - as it's easy to go to the exit by mistake (I have done it once) and then you would have to go through security again. This map - page 3 - shows the transit points to B/C Gates I look at Flightstats the week before we leave and track each daily flight with the flight number - it shows the departure gate which is normally the same every day.

No security on same terminal domestic to international connections at LHR. On arrival you go to the boarding pass check which is opposite gate A5, then go upstairs and you’ll find yourself airside at the northern end of T5.
The shuttle train goes from the centre of the terminal (the lifts down are quicker than escalators), if, as likely, your flight departs from the B or C gates. Not having security makes this a relatively comfortable connection if your domestic flight is more or less on time. |
