How much money on holidays?
How much money do you spend per year on holidays?
We are going a little bit crazy and thinking of another holiday but unsure. Only con is how much money in such a short time. Would like to know I’m not the only crazy person spending lots on holidays. |

I haven’t really got a budget, all I know is, if I’ve got the money and I want to go, I will.

I’m a bit old fashioned. I need to make sure all outgoings are covered and debts paid. We also make sure we save a substantial portion of our income each month.
Once we are sure of that, any excess is spent on holidays or short breaks. We are retired so we need to be sure of a buffer in case things go wrong.

Some years a lot some years not so much. It’s not so much how much is spent it’s the % of your disposable income that matters. We all have different incomes and are at different stages of our lives.
Holidays are still a luxury to me and I will only spend on them if I can afford it and after everything else has been paid. |

This is really completely individual. If your Annual income is £250K you are likely 5o sp3nd more than so energy who's income is £40K.
If you have a million pounds in cash savings you may spend more than someone who has £2K. I won't dip into my savings for holidays, I will use our income and have what I want when I want it. If you have the funds the its your choice, if I had a mortgage I would prioritise that and my bills after that it's your choice. |

This years Florida Disney moon has cost us £8k but we’re looking at a week somewhere in September just the two of us for maybe £2k. I’m a saver so have a large amount in savings that we don’t touch that’s my baseline, anything above that is spent on the house or holidays.

It depends happy to spend £xxk going to the States or on a cruise not happy spending £1500 for a week on a caravan in Cornwall.
It’s about getting value for me Edited at 07:46 PM. |

Impossible to answer. Value to one is not value to another

No one can answer that and it's not all about money either it's life choices. We only had one income when the children were young as I chose to be a SAHM -as did many back then, (although mortgage rates were brutal house prices were lower), we chose to only holiday in school holidays which increased costs and reduced availability so we were for many years happy with two weeks in a hotel in the Balearics (mainly Menorca). We didn't get to Florida for many years. However times change and I'm ancient but I don't think I'd have changed a thing. And there was no all-inclusive back then, those ice creams and drinks didn't half add up.

Yes that’s what’s getting me. I priced up a week in Cornwall and it was very expensive
After covid I’ve just gone into a mentally of you only life once kinda thing and I’m thinking it’s a lot of money really but we’ve only just started back work holidays after three years. We over pay the mortgage. We pile money into shares and pensions but it’s a fine balance. |
