I read all of this thread over the weekend and generally most people here are like minded and believe in the woman’s right to choose whether they personally agree with abortion or not.

Today I have been on linked in and have been reminded how different the British our from our American cousins. I can’t believe out of 50k comments on one article pretty much everyone agrees with the ruling. It probably shouldn’t be a surprise to me as I remember once on one of my 20+ trips trying to have a discussion about gun laws. I quickly realised this was futile. As other have said next is IVF, contraception and LGBTQ+ rights 😢

For such a modern nation they are so backward in their thinking. The UK is far from perfect but I’ll take it over the US any day!

Without upsetting people I honestly believe the biggest issue over in the US that is driving all these archaic laws now is religion.

Every time a new law or ruling is put in place those who agree with them are spouting religion.

The same thing happened the other day with regards to Roe v Wade. All you heard on the TV was God this and God that.

Same as with Covid. How many spouted God will save me. And how many did God save!

If I have upset anyone then I apologise! Just my opinion!

I agree, I don’t believe in god but do like to think I live by good Christian values and try not to judge.

Interestingly I was in London at the weekend and saw two people preaching, one on Oxford st and the other at Wembley and both were American.

At what point do these restrictions make them no better than the way the taliban treat women?

I was thinking the same

Are other forms of contraception available FOC in the states, again I think it is poorer people in society who will be affected by this ruling, more children being born into poverty

I agree that a lot of evil has been done in the name of religion. However a lot of evil has also been done in the name of atheism.

The common factor is humankind.

Genuine question, what’s been done “in the name of atheism”?

I have Christian friends in the US, most do not go along with the ruling, however a very vocal 'extreme' section are totally in agreement. I genuinely feel afraid for what may happen next.
