Convertible Car Hire

Hi there 😊

We are hopefully going to Florida for the third time in August. We have never hired a car but it looks as though we will have to this time as the complimentary shuttle isn't running to Busch Gardens.

So, I have been having a little look and thinking about a convertible. Are we realistically going to be able to have the roof down though? Thinking of needing the air conditioning more.

We have had a tough year, like a lot of people, and I would love to surprise my DH with something a bit different.

Thank you for any help.

We had one for west coast road trip, it was nice but had roof up by midday as it was too hot. As your going to Florida and in August I think the roof would be up more than down with the heat and showers but like I said it was a bucket list for us. Also boots space abit pants, ok for 2 but no more imho. Now if you wanna truck lol, we had a ford f150 another bucket list for me and we loved it. 😊

We’ve had one 3 times in Florida, we’ve had the roof down maybe 2-3 times across those hires 😂 not sure why we bothered really.

Many of the roads are just too fast to have the roof down, it’s too hot for much of the day, and rain!

If you’re after a treat maybe just get a premium car, I know my dh loves driving those.

Thank you so much for your quick responses.

I thought that probably would be the case and it's reflected in the price too.

I will have a look at a premium car.

Thanks again x

I'm really hoping that the shuttle bus will be running by August.

Me too. I know how much trouble I get into in this country when I give the hubby incorrect directions, let alone in USA 🤣🤣

We've had a Chrysler Seebring convertible twice and probably wouldn't bother again. First time was in February, was actually ok to be honest, a bit of a novelty, it was our honeymoon and first time in WDW. We looked like proper tourists...! Roof down from Sanford with luggage on the back seat as it wouldn't fit in the trunk... Who knew - the roof went in the trunk...
2nd time was a few years later in September, newer model (same car) and the hard top roof folded neatly leaving plenty of trunk space.
However, we only had the roof down occasionally, and mostly in the evenings when cruising round WDW and I-Drive going for something to eat.
So in summary - as others have mentioned - nah, don't bother. Go for something a bit different to your standard upgrades and get a big truck...
