Best tablets or tips for rollercoaster motion sickness
Since I was a small child I have suffered from travel sickness. It just gets worse as I get older - and I'm much older now. What was once a mild queasiness in those old fashioned motion simulators (and Startours) is now something I have come to dread. I stand in the queue, excited, not in the least bit scared and tingling with anticipation for the first big drop, only to get on the thing and within 10 seconds turn green and start praying for it all to be over. Until recently, the adrenaline rush outweighed feeling crappy. I want to do the rides, I'm just not sure I can. Motion simulators and things that go upside down leave me feeling particularly bad.
To put my toddler like reactions into context I love driving a car, although I have been known to self inflict a bit of queasiness going through winding roads in the Lake District. I can just about handle being a front seat passenger but to get me in the back seat you'd have to persuade me I was gong to Florida at the end of the journey and the driver must maintain a steady speed on a smooth, straight road. I can't do anything but look out of the window. Trains are good, I can even read a book - but not for the tilting bits on the journey to London. Planes are impossible without dosing up on travel sickness tablets and boats...well, let's just say the ferry to the Magic Kingdom is about my limit. I've tried taking tablets in the theme parks, but not had much success. The wrist bands were no use at all. I've not tried ginger, because I don't like it, but I'm that desperate that I might give it a go. Maybe I should just accept defeat and give up all rides except the drop ones and water rides. All of which is a very long winded way of saying does anyone have any suggestions on how I can ride the Hulk, Space Mountain and dozens of other things that my rubbish body won't let me enjoy anymore? Thanks |

I also use Dramamine ever day before we go the the theme parks, if it’s a Universal or Seaworld day I tend to take two tablets but Disney’s rides only warrant one being a little tamer.
Should add tablets have no effect for me on Teacups or other spinning rides 🤢🤢🤢 Edited at 08:22 PM. |

Unfortunately the only way I can “ride” roller coasters or simulators is by watching the videos on YouTube. 20 odd years ago the Yogi bear simulator at Universal ruined my day. After lots of reading and watching videos I tried Test Track last time we were in Florida, never again!
Sturgeron gets me through flights unless there is turbulence and cruises unless it’s rough, but nothing will get me through a ride. |

Thanks for all your replies. I use Stugeron for flights but they tend to knock me out and I’ve not had any success with them in the parks.
I will give Dramamine a go. I’m assuming I can pick these up at Walmart? I really hope something works. I don’t feel ready to give up just yet 😀 |

I find screaming works very well.
I think my sickness comes from my blood pressure dropping, so screaming helps keep it high! For normal sea sickness I use travel bands, which work perfectly. I can’t use sea sick pills as they send me to sleep! |

Have you tried scopoderm patches? I read about them on here. Apparently sailors wear them in rough seas. They definitely helped me.
