Manatee swimming
Has anybody done swimming with manatees at all? I've seen it advertised on attraction tickets direct and it's not that much money.

We went to Crystal River and swam with them via Birds Underwater who I would recommend. Depending on when you are visiting it is more difficult as they are not about and are out in the gulf. Being mammals the majority swim in the gulf and only come inwards when the waters cool down which can be from October onward but last year the majority did not arrive until December as the waters stayed warm.

We have a fantastic experience shared by 5 generations a great day away from the parks
But take warm clothes as you can get a bit cold as you can be in and out the water |

We took the kids about 5 years ago to crystal springs but as it was July we didn't see too many but we did see them .
This year along the gulf coast we had a manatee stayed with us out in the water and actually went under us lifting us up ! It was an unbelievable experience , they are not meant to be touched or fed but this one seemed to love the attention . Depending where you are and time of year will decide where to see Good luck

We did this last year for DD's 21st birthday... but same advice as above - if you're going between June & October you may not see very many, if any at all.
We opted for a private tour with Fun2Dive per several recommendations on here - but that is not a cheap option. An unforgettable experience, definitely one of the best ever. |
