Never trust KLM. Shocking customer service and do everything they can not to refund having cancelled flights.

It’s made me re evaluate whether or not the Free DDP really works for us. We were faced with potentially still going on holiday but without the DDP in August and I realised that without having to factor in using TS credits we had a lot more flexibility with our itinerary. Might not change anything going forwards as the free DDP may not be on offer again but it’s made me realise that, for us, some greater flexibility might be preferable.

Reading people's experiences of how different travel companies have dealt with cancellations etc has been enlightening, for us DLP and BA can't be faulted and we wouldn't hesitate to book with both again but as per this year's lost holidays we'd only put down the minimum deposits to ensure any losses would be minimal. Our biggest concern though would be booking accommodation as we know people have struggled to get money back from HomeAway (now VRBO), Airbnb and other smaller rental advertisers.

Definitely give Aer Lingus a 'body swerve'.
Still no voucher or refund after 8 weeks and many letters/messages/forms of complaint.

Why not simply do a Chargeback?

We were lucky that we didn’t get stung by having a holiday booked (thank god, I wouldn’t have coped with any more! We did have a couple of UK things booked) But I’ve still learnt a lot, and still am.

Certain companies I will never use again, a mixture of on here and work info.
We sadly won’t rent DVC again.

We will still book in advance once we’re back on our feet though

Thats my next step. I have the letter drafted but had to give AL a further 14 business days to reply, so I'll be sending it off on Monday.
