Is it worth me trying to do my passport now?

just before Christmas?

Will do the photo etc online but I have to post my passport back (takes around a week to 10 days to get back to the uk)

It will come back to the uk by courier so maybe 10 days?

I know I wont get it before Christmas but will be straight after-cant decide if its a daft idea or not? 🤔

I guess it depends when you are likely to next need it and how close to expiration it is ?

Dependant on the trade deal there may be an uptick in people renewing their passports after January 1st.

Are there any specific advantages to you as a person living in Greece to getting a passport issued before Jan 1st ?

Otherwise the Christmas post may be the challenge as I'm Sure you will know.

Im changing the name on it, I booked a flight for mid April in my new name

We have to do biometric i.d's from next year (6 months to do it) so I'll also have to get tax number, bank etc changed before i can do mine.

Just can't decide

I did my sons a couple of weeks ago and it took nine days from me posting it to it being returned. That reminds me though, I’ve not yet received his old passport back.

We got ours back on Monday, 9 days after posting. Like you we are still waiting on the old ones returning

I’d do it as soon as possible then if there is a delay you are giving yourself the most time to get it back.

What are the disadvantages to doing it now?

The biggest problem right now is we are still in strict lockdown.
Supposed to finish on the 1st then extended to the 7th and just been extended to the 14th.

We have to text to get permission to go out, we have to stay in our own area unless we really have to go to the bank, doctors, or vet in corfu town. (Post office is halfway yo town)
Been told to put the number for going to the bank but if we get an arsey policeman stop us then he might fine us, cant afford a €300 fine right now.

How long is the strict lockdown expected to last?

I’m sorry-I forgot that you aren’t U.K. based. Is it a U.K. passport though? Timings should be pretty similar to process currently but obviously posting abroad it could take a while longer to arrive.

I wouldn’t risk a fine. I’d probably wait a few weeks and see if your lockdown eases.

I posted my renewal passport application on a Tuesday; new passport back just over 2 weeks later on a Wednesday; old passport back on Thursday (the next day).

Supposed to end on the 14th but we have a feeling they might extend another week,
