That's great to hear

Thanks

I love Southern Dunes and if its in good condition and because we are staying there I will probably end up just playing there

Such a shame you can’t take up Marks offer DH loves his stint marshalling at The Arnold Palmer always the best 4 days of our spring trip
Thanks again Helen

I wouldn't like to be the people buying Ridgewood Lakes, it will cost many millions to put right if my last visit was anything to go by.

Its never been in great condition but IMO its a really interesting layout and from the back tees a decent challenge. I hope they can turn it around

I've recently been communicating with Kevin Woodward, the General Manager, regarding tee times for our upcoming trip (10th August - 29th August)

They are currently aerating the greens, starting yesterday, so they wont be in particularly good shape at the moment, however this is reflected in a sizeable reduction in green fees ($30 as opposed to $55 ish)

However, the greens are expected to be in tip top condition again by the time we arrive, I have a tee time booked for the morning after we arrive.

If the course is not up to scratch I'll just play some of the many other wonderful courses in the area, such as Orange County National, Championsgate, Las Colinas, Celebration (although check if they are treating the greens before you book), Ritz Carlton, with the possibility of a trip down to Streamsong (about a 40 minute drive, never played there but according to reviews its a cut above any of the others)

Will also be playing at Reunion as a mate of mine is staying there at the same time we are there, he has paying priviledges and can sign me in as a guest. Played there a couple of years ago when the greens at Southern Dunes were being rebuilt and had reciprocal arrangements with a few local courses, all 3 Reuinion courses are awesome.

Avoid at all costs - Highlands Reserve, Ridgewood Lakes, Providence. Mystic Dunes, Kissimmee Bay, anything else thats less than $30 to play
Thanks for that

I have played many of the courses that you name and like you took advantage of the Reunion offer when SD was closed.

They were all very interesting courses.

Celebration is having a lot of work done and is currently 9 holes only, they are hoping to open early to mid-September

I like it as a challenge because of its tightness in bits and all the forced carries.

We have stayed at both Highlands Reserve & Watersong and like you, I wouldn't again play Providence or Highlands Reserve

Enjoy your trip

Thanks again Helen and sorry to hear of your trouble/expense.

I think that Southern Dunes have had to totally redo the greens at least 3 times since we started going there, being closed for months on end.

Such a shame

Thanks Mark

Don't go to too much trouble

My son and daughter in law have recently had a baby (they are coming with us) and I don't think they will fancy uprooting and disrupting his routine again and he definitely won't be allowed a free pass for a father and son trip!

Even if DW and I were to stay son would need to come over with their car and that would leave mum and grandson stuck in the villa

Would be interested for future reference for DW (who doesn't play) and I though.

Thanks again and have a good trip over here

Thanks for this have been lucky enough to play IIRC all of what was I think 5 Disney courses in the past when we stated at Disney and would definitely do so again.

Golf now has really good rates on Waldorf Astoria which used to be one of Disney's courses so might look at that also.

Struggling to remember the originals Palm, Magnolia, Eagle Pines & Osprey Ridge & Lake Buena Vista possibly?

I know that Plam & Magnolia still exist and I think Lake Buena Vista and Waldorf Astoria will take up another but would love to know which one and what happened to the other.

May well have been a composite of "lost" two with other land given over to construction

Hi the Disney courses still exist but different owners. Palm, magnolia and lake buena vista still good. The Waldorf has one and the other osprey ridge is now part of four seasons group, played it last year and they where upgrading it as some work needed.

Thanks Helen

Really grateful for the update

Off to Tenerife on Thursday for 4 nights golf then back a day and a half before Orlando

Game will either be in great shape or a total mess depending on the level of alcohol consumed in Tenerife

Really looking forward to it

Thanks again

George
