Universal Halloween Horror Nights

Hi, I have a few questions around this… just wondering if I need to have purchased daytime tickets as well? We weren’t going to do universal this time, but I’m considering buying a 1 night ticket to this event if that’s possible?
Also, are any rides open?
And finally, how scary is it? I have a 10 & 12 year old.
Thanks in advance!

You do not need to purchase daytime tickets, though daytime guests get the advantage of "stay and scream" rather than queuing outside to be let in.

A selection of rides are open and often have very low waits.

I don't think it is super scary, the houses are mainly jump scares and maybe a bit of gore, if they are easily scared then it certainly wouldn't be suitable, the advisory from universal is not recommend for under 13's, there is no actual age limit though.

No you don't need to purchase a day time ticket - you can just buy a HHN one night ticket then wait at the gates for them to let you in at around 6pm.
All rides are open during the event - including a very quiet Diagon Alley.
It is scary and intense - whether your child will think so depends on them entirely.

It is certainly not all rides, it is a select amount of rides, last year there was:
TRANSFORMERS: The Ride 3D
Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit
Revenge of the Mummy
Men in Black Alien Attack
