Question $ to the £ query...

OK I am officially confused

We're all down 'cos the price of the $ to the £ is low over here (I think it was about $1.35 yesterday when I was out shopping). But reading a message today from a Dibber who has just returned, they said they got $1.56 to the £ in Mall of Millenia.

SO... why are we changing £'s to $'s before we go? Would it not be better every time to take £'s with us and change them over there?

I am not criticising anyone by the way, it's merely a question that me or my DH can work out the answer to

Can someone shed any light please?

Yeh, me too - when we have been to Lanzarote/Fuerteventura/France etc over the last few years the advice from the PO/TA's has always been to take STERLING Travellers Chq's not Euro's.

Weird... sure someone sensible will tell us soon

I'm really not sure where that figure came from, are they saying they exchanged cash at that rate or was this for spending on a credit card? neither is very likely in recent weeks as the interbank rate hasn't reached that level since December and it's really not possible to have an exchange rate higher than the interbank rate of the day.

Maybe the Dibber who posted earlier can clarify where/how they did this.

It was Chazza_Hoopet (sorry may be wrong spelling) they posted on their `I'm home` thread today that they got $1.56 at Mall of Millenia.
