Norwegian Cruise
Going on September Cruise to Norway. Is it worth taking Krona notes ? Or putting some Krona on a card as well as dollars ? We are just planning short walks around the ports so won’t be spending a lot of money. Any advice much appreciated.

Debit and credit cards are very widely accepted in Norway. We only took krona because a bus journey we wanted to do was pay the driver in cash - but we found out there was a way round that we could have paid with a card. So for your plans I would say you don’t need any cash.

Im on a September Disney Norwegian Fjords. I have Krone cash for the posts. I got the smallest notes, 50 Krone which is approx €5 / £5
I don't plan on spending much in the ports, I don't have excursions booked that need to be paid for , so its just really for bits and pieces. |

Not a cruise, but we’ve been to Norway twice and not taken any cash either time.
They take cards everywhere there. |

No, don't take any cash. Literally everywhere takes cards from tiny street vendors to public transport. We didn't bring any and never got stuck paying for anything.

Update
I took approx €200 worth of Norwegain Krone for the 4 port days. I spent all of the cash, well I came home with approx €3.90 worth of Norwegian coins. I didnt have any issues spending the Norwegian cash in any of the ports. In Eidjford I had a good chat with one of the shop workers about using Norwegian Krone cash as most cruise ship passengers don’t. She thanked me for using Norwegian Krone cash as they lose money on card transactions. Sometimes what is easiest for tourists is not the best for the local economy. Edited at 09:16 AM. |
