Can I get hol insurance for 2020 booking?

So last week we booked tui package for oct 2020. I can not seem to find holiday insurance that will cover that far in advance (tui did quote for insurance but it was v expensive)

Am I doing something wrong? I always thought you should have insurance from when you book the holiday.

Any advice appreciated x

You'll be lucky to find any insurer who will cover you for more than 12 months.

We booked for this year nearly 2 years in advance. As you say, it’s best to sort out insurance as early as you can but I could only do it 12 months before.

You have two options , have annual insurance and keep renewing ( don’t forget to keep updating them with any medical etc ) , or wait until 365 days then get travel insurance for a single trip.if you wait until 365 days before then you should only loose deposits if at all if you had to cancel for any reason. It depends how much deposit you’ve paid . No one will insure you unless it’s linked in with a package that far in advance.

I always book Disney trips (including DLP) more than a year in advance and can never get single trip insurance over a year in advance. I book it as soon as the 365 days hits though.

Insurance this far out usually isn't that big of a deal because the holiday is that far away you would only lose your deposit, which usually isn't much more than the excess per person on your insurance policy, or being so far out you can change the holiday for a very small fee so insurance this far out usually doesn't have that much of a benefit.

Yes it's not a major issue to be without insurance provided that you have not yet incurred the major expense of the holiday. The only thing you need cover for prior to travelling is to cancel and there would be an excess per person. Just mark your calendar to get it as soon as its available.
