Any green fingered dibbers?
We had a new lawn laid a couple of years ago after an extension and after the hot weather it became a little patchy and has never recovered (it's gets a little football on it too). Over last winter and this the moss has set into the patches. I will be scarifying when the weather improves to remove the dead grass and Moss but what should I use/how should I approach getting a lush green lawn back?
Thanks.

I normally just sprinkle grass seeds over my lawn to help with the dead bits plus feed it every so often. Last year I dug up one of my flower borders as I wanted more grass and only put down a B&Q grass seed(verve I think) and within a couple of weeks it came up lovely . however we didnt tread on it until established , watered regularly and I put down a bit of top soil too at time of planting. if reseeding I would do around end of March beginning of April just incase we get very cold weather still.

Perhaps you could use a lawn moss killer which possibly comes combined with a lawn feed.

I’m certainly not what you would call green fingered (quite the opposite!) but we had the same with a new lawn a few years ago. When we see any patches we use I think it’s Evergreen lawn seed, it has a picture of a Labrador on the box. Works a treat!

Perhaps it needs aerating by making holes in the surface of the soil to improve drainage ?
Does the moss grow only in shady areas ? Moss killer will leave brown patches when raked up but seed should grow pretty quickly. Then use a good lawn tonic. |
