Ba flying back and one stop bags?

Next week we fly back home after nearly a lovely month here, on the way out from man to Heathrow to Miami we had a purple tag put on our cases so they went straight into the next flight, just wondering will they do the same going back or do we need to collect them at Heathrow and recheck them in to Manchester?
