Declaring at Customs
So being a shopaholic I am pretty sure I am going to go over the £390 limit. So I have a few questions.
I take it each adult has a £390 limit? How do I then go through customs? I realise I'd go through the something to declare bit. Should I keep all my purchases and receipts in one place? Can hubby & I put all our purchases together or do we need to separate them? Assuming we have to pay some duty can this be done in cash? I am happy to pay the duty just don't want to get in a flap. Tia

I just would not bother and have not on any occasion I've come back from the states. When we came back in January myself and partner had about at least £1500 worth of stuff between us and to carry it all we bought a 2nd large suitcase to bring it all back. Walked though the nothing to declare with about 4 customs officer standing they ignored us and went straight through.
Came back again in October with around £1300 worth between us both plus Apple watches and again we walked straight through with 3 customs officers standing doing nothing. My dad has come back from the states with brand new golf drivers before walked though nothing to declare and again customs officers ignored him. No doubt in a moment someone will post what I've done is terrible and illegal blah blah blah. I'd say walk through the nothing to declare you got nothing to lose. |

We came back thursday morning. We hadn't gone over our limits so I went through nothing to declare but I had all my receipts ready just in case I got stopped.
We went out with 2 cases and came back with 4

We bring back way more the £390 every time, its fairly obvious, last time we had 5 cases between 3 of us.
Never declare anything andnever been asked in 9 visits. |

No doubt someone will be on here soon to post their disapproval of unrepentant tax dodging (for that is what it is) being given a platform on the Dibb...and they would be right.
