Import Tax
Has anybody shipped one of the Disney castles back home? If so did you have to pay import tax?
Thanks |

If you are talking about the castle that was released in sept $299, then you may as well buy from the Lego shop on line, priced at £289.00 works out about the same by the time you add on shipping, not sure what the value is on import tax.

If you ship anything back then its highly likely you will have to pay import taxes.

Thanks was expecting to pay some, but bill was higher than expected. We bought the $90 castle and paid shipping and was expecting import duty to be around 20% but bill was nearly £40. Never mind still have the castle for xmas for DD.

You would pay 20% VAT on the value of the item plus 20% on shipping costs plus a handling fee of £8 if Post Office or £10 if its a courier company
So 20 % of £289 is £57.80 plus 20% of (let's say) $40 for shipping is £6 plus handling fee - so you could be looking at £ 71 plus before they will deliver it to you. Just easier to buy one at your Lego shop or online. *Ah! I see you are talking about a different castle but the same VAT rates would apply.(20%) Edited at 11:34 PM. |
