Car Breakdown Question

Can't find the answer to this. We were off seeing child no 1 in Dundee at the weekend. Its roughly 100 miles away. Anyway got a new pair of varifocals last week and as we got into the car to come home a lens popped out and landed on the ground. I did find it and replaced it and was able to drive home.

The question is however, if I hadn't found it or if it had broken could I have phoned the AA to get my car back home? There was no way I could have drive with one eye shut all the way home. Keeping it open would have been double vision. I do know that people do drive with only one eye but they have had a lot of time to get used to it.

A good question, but my 'guess' would be that as it's not a fault with the car then they wouldn't take you and the car home 100 miles due to an issue with your glasses.

But it was an issue with my sight caused by my glasses. If say I broke an arm that day would they take me then.

I would be very surprised if they came out for that reason, as there is nothing wrong with your car, you could ring and ask though.

Can find nothing in the agreement so the answer would appear to be no.

They are a car breakdown recovery service, not a person or arm break down recovery service

A good reason to have a spare pair of glasses in your car.

No need to be rude. It was an honest question.

I know the rac would never turn a customer down but due to the nature of the incident it would be a pay on use recovery 😎
