Heads up to ASDA
Just had an email from ASDA asking if I was happy to receive promotional emails in relation to their Fathers Day promotions or would I like to opt out.
As someone whose DD died 6 years ago & whose DH died 4 years ago so obviously our 2 children are without their Dad I thought it was a great gesture on their part as I do hate the amount of emails regarding Fathers Day at this time Will be interesting to see if other companies die the same |

I've had a couple of emails already and also did for Mothering Sunday which I thought was very thoughtful. I deleted them so can't remember who they are
Edit - just found them, Boots, Moonpig, Beer Hawk

I've had similar emails from a few companies and I do think its a great idea - you can't get away from the fact the occasion is happening but not having it shoved in your face every time you open your email helps
would be nice going forward they could add occasions to the settings so you could opt out in advance |

I had the Asda one and also one from Superdrug. I thought it was a nice idea as it can be an upsetting reminder for many people

I got one from the Card Factory earlier today and thought it odd. Stupid of me not to twig what they meant considering I just lost my Dad last year. I’ve just retrieved the email and registered to opt out, so thanks for the heads up.

My dad died when I was young but I don’t mind receiving the reminder emails as I always have to remind my husband to send a card to his dad.

Matalan do this too which is good when you no longer have your parents

I have had opt out emails from Matalan and M&S, its the anniversary of my Dads death today, so always around Fathers Day, I’m glad to be able to choose not to have these emails.

Lots of companies do this. My Dad passed away this year and I have had emails to opt out from many companies recently including Superdrug, Matalan, M&S, Moon Pig and a couple of flower companies.

Bloom and wild flowers did this for Mother’s Day, I thought it was really thoughtful as I had just lost my lovely mum
