We are fortunate enough to have been to Florida over 23 times, and the majority of times have flown into Sanford, not so busy as MCO and quicker too.We have always had less delays here than MCO.Hope this helps.

Sanford👍

Another vote for Sanford, haven’t been Sanford for years as we usually go with Virgin now.
Never had a problem there and I actually quite like the drive.

SFB is our go-to choice. its a similar size to east midlands (our preferred uk departure airport)

as long as you aren't right at the back of the plane, or land just before another flight you should be through immigration, got your bags, and in the car on the way to your accommodation in around half an hour.

it's a bit further out from the disney area compared to MCO, and is 20-30 minutes drive longer depending on where you are staying, but this all balances out by how quickly you get through the airport after getting off the plane.

on the way home, the departure lounge doesn't have much in the way of food/entertainment/shops... there's duty free so you can grab cigs/spirits/perfume/etc, a newsagent for magazines/drinks/last minute gifts, a bar for booze, a food 'court', outdoor smoking area where you can watch the planes and a load of seats to wait in...

I hate Sanford. It's run down and the security was beyond rude to me. The departure hall is dated. Immigration is either very good or really bad as they don't have as many officers to deal with flights.

I know I am in the minority on here, but If I can avoid it I will.

I don't think that's as much of a minority as you think. Circumstances have gradually made it less attractive over the years for us.

I have many times said that the immigration speed "might" offset the extra driving distance...the immigration is sometimes going to bite you in the backside...the airports are not going to move.
That said I do enjoy the 417 bridge over lake Jesup.
the combination of Magical express and some UK operators folding their operations, or folding into other operators and then Thomas Cook moving airports have done for a lot of the people that offered viable direct UK flights.

Security can be as rude as they like to me. I'm on holiday, they have a shift to finish... I know who is winning.

Sandford is so much quicker but as already said its very dated.

I prefer it though as would rather get in and out quicker to start my holiday.

we are flying to MCO this year though so fingers crossed its smooth.

We went in May 2017 and were in the queue for immigration for 2 hours. Slow process with excited and tired kids!
