Tampa Airport

In 2 weeks we will be flying out to our happy place!
We've never flown in to Tampa before so I'm not sure what to expect but I'm reading some good reviews of the airport generally so that's great!

We pick up our car from Avis and have seen there is a monorail system at Tampa. My question is, do we collect our luggage first or are the reclaims after the monorail?

Do you have to reload your luggage back on to a carousel or take it all onto the monorail with us?

Just trying to mentally prepare as we're travelling with 2 youngsters!

Thanks!

You collect your luggage after immigration if you're flying direct. Then you get a monorail to the main terminal and go up escalators or in lifts to the monorail to the car rental. Make sure you hold on to your luggage and the rails on the monorail to the car as it's quite fast on the bends and not many seats! Tampa airport is lovely.

If you're indirect you'll get the first monorail then collect luggage at the main terminal before going to the car rental monorail.

Thank You! That has cleared things up for us

We are flying direct. Thanks for the tips on the fast monorail! We will be sure to make sure the luggage (and kids) are secure!

2 weeks to go!
