We have one. I think it depends on why you need a 4x4. We live rurally in a mountainous area and drive down many tracks. I’m not sure it’s a car I personally would chose if driving in the U.K. as a family car. Ours is a 2.2 and it’s very juicy on the diesel. Ours has done 200000 miles had one major repair which was the timing chain which incidentally my brother , who lives in the U.K., also had to have replaced cost €1200.

Comfortable car, but IMHO better options out there

I have a Pulsar and we’ve ordered a petrol 5 seat auto xtrail after taking one for a test drive. Initial impressions were good (good enough to order one anyway). We had initially been looking at the Qashqai or Renault Kajar but wanted something with a bigger boot as we were disappointed in the Qashqai’s. Buying it through a broker I found on the Honest John website.

We have a Qashqai and love it. We would look at an XTrail for next car for the slightly bigger boot but to be honest we probably don’t need it. 1.6 Diesel engine and it’s really good.

Good speech. get the dealer to put them alongside each other and fully compare. Then take them out for test drives.

Thats how I made the decision to step up to a bigger engine size.

We've just got an Xtrail, changed from a Qashqai for the extra boot space. It's not a 7 seater or 4x4 and we love it. We had a 7 seater Xtrail years ago but this is much better.

That’s a great idea Tom I think we do that
Hubby job is walking distance to our home so it’s me what drives more daily unless it’s his days off
I’m a bit worried x trail mite be too big for me but definitely test drive both

Don't buy an X trail if you need to tow. The clutch plate isn't up to it as I found out the hard way.
Other than that it's a nice 4x4 if you just need extra grip and there's a lot of space in it.

Definitely won’t need for towing
