Wedding dress and Thomson query
Hi
We are flying with Thomson and my daughter in law to be has asked Thomson the best way to take her wedding dress onboard - its not a Thomson wedding - the travel agent just kept saying take it as hand luggage, this doesn't seem right where we she put it on the plane? I cannot find anything on there website unless you booked the wedding package with them which we did not. Can anyone advise on this? Julie

Getting Excited
|
I took mine on as hand luggage in the box it came in along with my girls bridesmaid dresses - I wasn't going to worry the entire journey about it being lost in the hold or worse still damaged or sent to another country. The box was quite big in length but not in height so it wasn't too bulky to carry and I just made sure we put all our bags in the over head bit and popped the box on top. Everyone was curious as to what it was and was really interested in our plans when I said it was a wedding dress and it made it all the more exciting talking about it.

It will have to go in the overhead lockers.

Mine was hung in the dress bag in the wardrobe in 1st Class.
I just picked it up from cabin crew on my way off the plane. I'd considered a box and the dress maker said she'd pack it for me but then my cabin crew friend told me to just ask to hang it because it absolutely wouldn't be a problem. That was BA though but I doubt it matters. Give them a ring and see what they say

Just booked flights with Thomson, and getting married next October - I think I'm planning on just having it in a box and taking it on as hand luggage That's what I've read other people do x

Actually they told me that over he phone too.
My friend insisted I do what he said and I was a bit worried about it. However at check in they said 'oh we always make allowances for occasions like this' and off I went. Gate staff knew the drill and boarded me early and the cabin crew took it from me and put a tag on it with my seat number. They were waiting at the door when we landed ready to give it to me. I appreciate when you call and they aren't helpful it does make you wonder whether or not take the risk

I'm going to be taking mine in a hanging bag, so I'm hoping to ask if it can be hung up. Mine's only a simple dress, so hopefully if it has to go in the overhead locker it should be ok.
