A pirate room is 2 proper beds so think I'd actually prefer that to a king but if it's not what you want then politely but firmly say no thanks.

2 beds would be good (they weren’t available when we booked) but we found the pirate rooms we had really dark so think we’d rather share a bed for a lighter room. Thanks all

It cost us more for a king room at POFQ. So if they would like to move you at checkin, you could ask for a standard room, which would technically be considered a downgrade but actually benefit you, if you know what I mean? Hotel guest (couples) are often looking to be put in king room rather than a room with two double beds.
