Apple Pay in America
we stay in Disney resorts and I usually have a credit card linked to our magic bands. With all the confusion about credit card holds etc I was wondering if it would be easier to link my credit card (Halifax clarity) to Apple Pay and use my phone to pay onsite. I know Halifax clarity has no foreign transaction fees ( if that’s the right terminology) but will that still apply via Apple Pay? Has anyone done this? Thanks

Barclays suggest it will work the same overseas. And I don’t see why the charges would be different to using your card manually. But I’d check with your bank just to be sure. |

To answer the Ops concern about holds being places on credit cards, my understanding is that if a merchant places a holding charge and you are using Apple Pay, the hold will still end up on your credit card in the same way as if you had used the card directly.

I think the idea is to use Apple Pay directly to purchase the items. Rather than adding a card to a magic band. Thus avoiding the hold that the magic band generates.
I have an Apple Watch so I’m thinking I can just pay using my watch. Once I work out how to do it it shouldn’t be any harder than using a magic band. |

Exactly this😊. It doesn’t seem any more trouble than using the magic band, if not easier. I will check with Halifax and see what they say.
