Harry Potter Studios

Has anybody been recently?

We are heading there today, I am just wondering if we are too early for our ticket time can we go into the canteen, use facilities etc? Or do we have to wait outside?

Also if we are too late (unlikely but you never know with traffic) do we miss our slot?

Yes if you are early you can go into the restaurant and the shop. I’m not sure what happens if you are late, but I assume that they have some leeway.

Great, well if we can go in there we will set off in very good time. I just didn’t want to arrive early to sit around in the car.

Yes, you can enter the building and sit in the canteen or look around the shop etc. Again, not sure about lateness. They might have information on their website FAQs

I made it, they let us in 30 minutes before ticket time. I have just done my broomstick ride film.

We arrived about 45 minutes before our designated time. We went inside and had a coffee in the cafe whilst we waited.

It was really good. I have been before in 2012 but we still spent about 4.5 hours here even though we had seen a lot before. There are some great new additions such as the cinema show before you go in, Hogwarts Express, Forbidden Forest and you can walk through 4 Privet Drive now whereas you couldn’t last time I went.

I didn’t do the broomstick ride last time either. I actually “had” to do it twice because when I went to pay, my ticket brought up a video of a six year old girl rather than the 48 year old me. The person on till just said ok we will go and reshoot it and took me straight back to the broomsticks. I think I did better on my first attempt though so a bit disappointed, not watched it yet though. DH was watching it at the time on the big screen and he said it was good.

We had lunch at Backlot Express, it was quite busy but we got a table. I bought the butter beer whilst DH got hot dogs. There was an American behind me in the queue discussing with his children that he is not sure how free refills work. When we got to order he was beside me and asked the server about free refills , she looked at him like he had beamed down from planet Zog and she had no idea how to answer him so I told him it is not a thing in UK.

Thanks for that, sounds like a great day! I think I will book it. I came up with the ridiculous idea of getting DH 40 presents for his 40th which is next week and I’m still a few short.

May need to sell a vital organ to fund it though!
