Mobile Nostalgia - who remembers...

Being a member of Britannia Music Club where you’d get introductory promotions like 6 CD’s for £1 each, and then purchase 1 CD per month.
Similarly, BCA (Book Club Associates) the Mail-order book club. Just sat here reminiscing as DH is looking through a very old copy of NME paper/magazine and it just reminded me of the amount of times we joined, left & re-joined the clubs to get cheap CD’s etc! 😂

I remember my parents getting CD’s through Brittania, they had a massive collection! I think they may have been in a book club too but not sure which one.

I went there for a job in 1999, during the interview there was a horrendous noise of grinding from outside. Those CD's that were sent out every month - when they were returned it was cheaper to just destroy them than even bother to unpack and resell them.

I turned them down - the office environment looked miserable and that noise would drive me batty.

I didn’t belong to a stamp club, but got started as my aunt worked in a post office, and she’d save stamps from incoming mail. Also customers used to send postcards from holidays (those were the days) and when they changed their display she’d save all the postcards for me (I used to love reading them as well). On my next birthday my mum bought me a beautiful large red stamp album (which i’ve kept). My mum used to also get me bags of used stamps from her work, and she’d sometimes let me get packs of first day issues from the PO.
I’ll post a photo later - need to dig it out! I’ve only kept it out of nostalgia - i’m sure there are no priceless stamps in there!
