It's nearly impossible to find the answer to this. I've tried many times. Most banks will claim to have no charges, but what they do is give you a lower exchange rate. I've used Tesco in the past and I think the exchange rate was 3% lower.
It's really worthwhile getting a card that gives you the proper rate. There are a few out there, I use the Santander Zero credit card. You'll get the on the day Mastercard exchange rate. Wish I'd started using it years ago. |

Agree with Family Jack - used my Tesco credit card to pay for our villa last year, happened to be charged in dollars, and was charged 2.75%. Got caught out as I got the quote in sterling, won't happen again.

I've done just that yesterday with undercover tourist (buy 2 days get 3 free offer) what I did was I put the money on my revolut card and paid using that so no fees involved, this should work with any currency card
just a small heads up when you pre purchase your tickets they will charge 2 amounts to your card the full fee and a smaller on between $1-2 they will then ask you what the amount was to validate your purchase |

Also just to add - Tesco charge non-sterling transaction fees for anything it classes as "foreign currency" so even if you purchase currency from somewhere like FairFX or Travelex they charge you this fee. My sister was caught out with this last year and cancelled her Tesco credit card for this very reason.
