We flew into Tampa in 2015, and was less than an hour from landing to sitting in our hire car. We got back last week and flew into MCO, never again. My DS8 gets airsick, so after being ill on the plane, we get to immigration and directed to the automated kiosks, didn't get a printout for DS8 and DS10, as they had just under 6 months on their passport, after that you go through to another queue, it took us about an hour to get through, before we even got to baggage reclaim, it felt like there was no air conditioning, it was so warm, so my DS8 was still being ill, luckily we took some spare bags from the plane. Flying home we queued for nearly 45 mins just to get through passport control. I would pay extra to fly into Tampa, I have told DH that we are never flying into MCO again, as it is always the same.

we also flew into Tampa in October and found the immigration a night mare only our plane in,after collecting our bags which you could see going around and around the carousel, but after that it was a breeze, also on the return, they were building a new Duty free store much cheaper than Gatwick, added bonus there's a smokers area at the gate

Best international airport in Florida that I’ve used by a long way.
Such a breeze. Immigration is so much better here than MCO. Although as the previous poster experience proves, there is always a chance of an exception |

We flew into Tampa this August, we were or our plane , through immigration , collected luggage, got the car in 25 mins, 60 minute drive to our villa in Kissimmee . This took less time than going through immigration in MCO the previous year!

We really like Tampa airport, we've used it a couple of times and wouldn't hesitate to use it again

70 miles is entirely credible if driving at 70mph.
Actual journey length depends on where you choose on google as the precise destination. 1hr 15m is more likely, depending on favourable traffic, steady driving speed and going to the western area of Kissimmee. (The area generally referred to as Kissimmee - effectively the villa communities south of the 192 - ranges east from Hw27 across to downtown Kissimmee and beyond. If you ever watch A Place in the Sun or other re-location tv shows, you'd see they even refer to Championsgate and Davenport as "the Kissimmee area" |

I’ll add to the uniform feedback. I loved flying out of Tampa, would do it again any day.
